Not Your Grandma’s Doily – Perfectly Purple Crochet Doily – Free Pattern

This doily is stunning. Just take a moment to enjoy all of the different shapes and patterns within the six-pointed star. This is not your average boring, white, circular doily.

Doilies are BACK! I officially declare them to be no longer “old lady decor” and promote them to beautiful home accents that can add interest to a space instead of aging it.

The color looks blue, but it is actually dark purple with a hint of green.

I found this lovely pattern on Pinterest, but the link led me to a Facebook photo in a different language. Check out the free chart below.

Pretty easy to follow, and I love that it is only 10 rows!

My yarn was another thrift store find, and it is made up of many strands of dark purple thread with a hint of green. In person it is absolutely gorgeous, but the yarn itself was difficult to work with since the threads wanted to separate.

After completing the pattern, I wet the doily, stretched it out on a piece of cardboard, pinned it so it was symmetrical, and starched it twice. The way you stretch and starch a doily can make it look a little different than the original image from the pattern.

Try out this easy and fun pattern with your favorite color(s)! It only took me about 2 hours, and the final product is definitely worth showing off.
